Experience how chromatography works! In the following interactive simulations, you can play with different parameters to improve separation efficiency.
Start!Chromatography is a versatile method to separate and analyze mixtures. A fluid, called the mobile phase, flows continuously through a long tube, called the column, which contains a densely-packed porous material, called the stationary phase. A small amount of the mixture to be separated is injected into the flow of the mobile phase. Components of the mixture interact differently with the stationary phase. At the end of the column, components come out at different times, achieving the separation. Scientists at FAU develop and use chromatography to classify nanoparticles and molecules.
